Pantano do Sul, also known as the Quagmire of the South, falls amongst the island´s richest fishing colonies. Currently, the
Beach has also been attracting lot of tourism, with reasonable infrastructure, and good restaurants specialized in fruits of the sea.
The beach stretches to about 3 kilometers in length and up to 500 meters wide.
The inhibitors of this area love tranquility and welcome the tourist very warmly.
There are nearly two hundred houses in this area.
By the break of the dawn, the boats that occupy the shores leave the place for bringing in the fruits of the sea, which visitors can taste local restaurants.
Many boats, of the type whaleboat, practically occupy the long beach. It has a wide sand band, more than one hundred meters in some stretches, of acinzentada sand, perhaps after receiving through the years, deposit of tons of remaining portions of fish, generally, of the dogfish mangona, main species captured in the
Pantano do Sul.
