Campeche is a beach located on the south of the city of Florianópolis, on the south of Brazil.
There used to be a proper airport which was inaugurated in 1924. Correio do Sul air planes used to land on the fields at Campeche neighbourhood. According to the information gathered at Florianópolis' Air Base, a French pilot and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, author of the classic "The Little Prince", would have made regular landings on the area when was flying with Ligne Latécoère (now Air France).[citation needed]
The French writer was seen for the first time landing his small Bréguet in Campeche in 1926.[citation needed]
There are many houses to rent as well as pousadas (hostels), bars and simple restaurants. From any point along its 11,5 km the island of Campeche can be seen.
